Agriculture Contributes to an Open Landscape

In Askeryd, there are 950 hectares of arable land and pasture, 560 hectares of these are managed in-house. The remaining land is leased out to three tenant farms, one of which includes dairy production, as well as a number of smaller lease agreements.

The primary role of the beef cattle is to maintain the grazing landscape in good condition, both in Askeryd and on Mörkö. Together, the KRAV-certified area across the properties exceeds 1,200 hectares. Half of the animals spend their summers on Mörkö, where they contribute to maintaining the oak landscape and the coastal meadows.

Since 2016, we have had 18,000 organic laying hens, and in 2026 we are expanding egg production to process more of our grain by building a new poultry house with capacity for an additional 70,000 hens. This will result in a production of 86,000 eggs per day—enough to supply the entire city of Västerås.
